Paddling the Wild and Scenic Wekiva River June 11, 2014

Up the Wekiva this morning we found all the summertime regulars soaking up the warm day. The Red-winged Blackbirds, Great and Little Blue Herons, Ospreys, Anhingas, Limkpins, Great Egrets, Red-shouldered Hawks and Swallow-tailed Kites were all out playing. Dragon Flies and Damsel Flies stopped to hitch a ride on the bow of our kayaks. Yellow Spatterdock and white Water Hemlock are in bloom and we ran up on a mess of freshly born Gators. We kept our distance as they clamored through the Duck Weed. There were many Turtles and other small Gators out and about too. We stopped to picnic at the landing and all is well on the river today ;-)
