Orlando's Nature Attraction September 17, 2013

Coming over from the UK, Terry and Ann had a kayak tour of the Wekiva River as part of their itinerary and up from South Florida, Meir and Elena had the same idea. As we headed up toward Wilson's Landing the Scarlet Hibiscus is still in full bloom along with the Spatterdock. The Eel Grass is now starting to bloom and sending it's shoots to the top of the water so the flowers can get what they need. The Turkeys, Anhingas, Little Blue Herons both in the white and blue phases were out milling around and so were the Osprey, Sandhill Cranes and Great Blue Herons. The Red-bellied Turtles and Florida Peninsula Cooters out sunning on the logs, are always a welcome site and the one Gator we did see was in full camo. There was a nice breeze on the river and the humidity is starting to feel like Autumn is on the way.
