Kayaking with long time friends July 8, 2014

The Dixie Girls came out for a little kayak 101 instructions on the Wekiva River today. They all did excellent for their first time paddling. The Scarlet Hibiscus, purple Pickerel Weed, white Water Hemlock, Pink Mallow and yellow Spatterdock Lilies greeted us on the way to the park. We saw freshly hatched baby Gators laying in the Duck Weed, Turtles sunning and Ospreys passing overhead. The Anhinga with his wings stretched out drying, Moorhen with her babies, Little and Great Blue Herons and the Snowy Egrets were all enjoying the day too and a nice easy drift back made for a fantastic trip. You could kayak the river every day and always see something new and it's a great morning when you can spend it with long time friends!
