The birds are starting to stack up on the Wekiva River. October 6, 2015 was a great day to be paddling. We saw Great Blue, Little Blue and Tri-colored Herons, Great Egrets, Anhingas, Red-shouldered Hawks, Kingfishers and White Ibis just to name a few. We found a Fishing Spider, the Red Maple trees are starting to turn and we saw 2 Manatees a mile down the river from Katie's Landing...that's a rare occurance. The surounding swamps are still flooding back into the river which is a great thing for the wildlife and it was perfect weather. 75 degrees and partly cloudy, what more can you ask for? Chris and Kathy came down from NY for a little R&R looking for the old Florida and we were happy to be their host!
